Hey Y’all!

I hope November has been treating you well and that you have all had time to stop and notice all there is to be grateful for. I know that can be a real challenge sometimes but it’s oh so important! This month we have been teaching the kiddos at church about gratitude all month long and I decided (with some big encouragement from Holy Spirit) to practice what I teach.

Our first week was on being grateful even when things don’t turn out the way you want. Oh boy, was that a long week! Something went wrong everyday that week, from forgetting to set an alarm to great lose in lives of people I love dearly and everything in between. God gave me lots of opportunities to practice gratitude and I think I learned a lot.

I’ll tell one short series of events that happened during the week. My dad was driving two of my brothers and I to visit my grandparents who where staying about 45 minutes away. About 20 minutes in to the drive we hear a loud pop and the “low tire” light comes on, we pull over to check it out and one of the back tires is hissing like an angry cat. Gratitude moment: my dad was driving not me and we were able to get off the highway and to a parking lot instead of being stuck on the side of the road.

Changing the tire turned into this whole thing, the spare tire goes in this crazy contraption under the car that requires special tools to get it out, but fast forward to the spare is on the car. We’ve had this car for several years and due to how hard it is to get to the spare it hasn’t been aired up in those several years, so our spare is very low. Gratitude moment: We were right next to two gas stations so one of them had to have air, right? Unfortunately, both gas stations had air pumps that were out of order, but we could’t say “if only there was a gas station”…Seriously though, I was so grateful this didn’t happen when I was driving alone.

Remember we were only 20 minutes from home, so we called my third brother and after about on hour of chilling in the gas station parking lot he arrived with an air pump. Yay for big brothers!

Any who, I could probably keep going but I know you don’t want to be here all day. My main point is that no matter how bad things get there’s always something to be grateful for! And yeah, I know a flat tire isn’t the end of the world but the things in my week that were worse are too serious for a lighthearted blog post and not really my story to tell.

When things are tough, sometimes gratitude is enough.

That’s all for now!
