What I found at Training camp was something I had no idea I was craving. It was a group of 44 people I could be unapologetically myself with, a group of strangers that felt like family because we were completely united in Christ. We all come from such different places, with different personalities, backgrounds, and baggage. But we’re all running as fast as we can in the same direction and that’s straight after our Lord. We prayed, worshipped, and talked openly about our concerns and fears. I’ve spent most of my life surrounded by fellow believers, but there was just something so special about this group. Knowing that every person there could be trusted was remarkable.
One of my favorite memories from the week and when I believe this group truly became family to me was on our third night. We were going to have at least three people praying/worshipping all night, we had it broken into 30 minute time slots. I wasn’t expecting much so I went to our meeting spot early to try and meet with God before others began to gather. I was to late for solitude though as a group of about 8 were already there. They were squad mates I hadn’t had much interaction with and I debated whether I should leave and come back, but before I could make a decision they invited me into the circle. What started as apprehension quickly changed to comfortable familiarity. We shared our burdens with one another and brought them to the father together, leaving everything we hold dear in His capable hands. It’s amazing how much easier it is to let go of something when brothers and sisters are with you at the fathers feet. After several hours of prayer and worship many of us turned in and had the best sleep of the whole week knowing we were being covered in prayer.
I’m so excited for this opportunity to live in community with these people and see what God does in each of our lives over the next year!
