As we wave goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021 I know I’m not alone in looking back at the year we’ve had. There was so much heart ache and turmoil, so many canceled plans, isolation and yelling on all sides about seemingly everything. I know for many that was all they saw this year and certainly all they remember when looking back. But while my year certainly held all those things, it held so much more and if it’s alright with you I’d like to share just a little bit of the more.
On Easter one of my Lighthouse kiddos at Church accepted Jesus as her savior and made it personal! BEST DAY EVER!! Then in August I had the opportunity to cheer her on as she made that decision public with believers baptism!
I saw my Lighthouse kiddos really understand that the church isn’t a building but wherever God’s people come together, even if that’s via zoom.
All those canceled events left open time to take my baby brother for hikes, have late night chats with my little brother, and a great heart to heart moment with my big brother.
I was able to spend more time with my grandparents then I ever have in my life and I cherish every minute. We did fun things like spin tops with Popa, talk about books with Nona, and decorate jars with Mimi. But I was also able to soak up their wisdom and learn from them new things about the bible and what God’s like.
I know that’s a lot, and honestly I could keep going for a while. My main point is this, even when the world is dark and appears to be closing in God is still at work and doing incredible things! I’m sure if every one of you really looked you could find mountains He’s moved…and ant hills too. Just because our calendars change tonight doesn’t mean all our problems go away, but fortunately for us our God doesn’t either, like it or not He’s here to stay.
Have a safe New Years and if you want to leave something God did in your year in the comments that would be wonderful!
